Rev. Kurt Auger and Dr. Alan Miller will be officiating during the service. Interment will follow at Cross Roads Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA.The family will receive friends the evening of Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA.Melba's death came after a lengthy illness on August 28, 2014. Preceding her in death are her parents, Ben and Nedra Farrar, brother, Wayburne Kelly Farrar Sr,. and grandson, James Caleb Dean.Melba was born on May 25, 1938 in Union Parish. She was a member of the Class of 1956 Alumni of Farmerville High School. She married Johnny Hodge, May 25, 1956. They became parents of three devoted children; daughter, Becky and son-in-law, Dennis Dean of Shreveport, LA; sons, Tim Hodge and daughter-in-law, Jackie of Bauxite, AR; and Brian Hodge of Bauxite, AR. She was a proud Grandmother of her precious grandchildren, Jordan Dean and wife Callie, great-grandson, Luke Dean of Shreveport, LA; Jonathan Dean, of Shreveport, LA; Ashley and Haley Hodge of Bauxite, AR; step granddaughter, Rachelle Brown and husband Paul, step-great- granddaughters, Isabelle, Emily and Caroline Brown, all of Covington, LA; sisters, Sudie DeFatta and Bea Bacilla of Shreveport, LA; and many dear friends, nieces and nephews who were extended family.Melba was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Farmerville since October, 1962. She served the church as Church Secretary for twenty four years. She also held the position of Church Clerk. "Miss Melba" truly had a heart of love as she served in this capacity of ministry for her church family and community. She enjoyed singing in the Sanctuary Choir and was a member of the Adult Bible Class. Upon her retirement, August of 2000, she directed the Senior Adult "KeenAgers" Ministry; organized and directed the HomeBound Ministry, and served part-time for several years with the Concord/Union Association.Serving as Pallbearers are: Wayburne Kelly Farrar, Jr., Rusty Hodge, David Farrar, Robert Allen, James Earl Wiley and Scotty Knowles.Honorary Pallbearers are: Coleman Malone, Chiles Carpenter and all the great Ministerial Staff Melba served with at the First Baptist Church, Farmerville.If you wish to give memorials, please designate them to the Senior Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church, P.O.
