ALBERT VIRGIL HOLLISTER Mulhearn Funeral Home - Sterlington Road, Monroe Funeral services for Dr. Albert Virgil Hollister, 85, of Monroe will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 7, 2006, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Pastor Paul McComack officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Hollister passed away, Saturday, February 4, 2006. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served as a pilot in WWII and in the Korean Conflict. He was also a retired professor from Northeast Louisiana University (ULM). He received his PHD from George Peabody College, now Vanderbilt. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Northeast Louisiana Bowlers Association, Pinehills Golf Club, and Highland Park Country Club. Dr. Hollister was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Hollister; sister, Mary and first wife, Johnnie Hollister. Dr. Hollister is survived by his wife, Hazel Hollister; children, Kelly Hollister of Phoenix, AZ, Jim Hollister of Phoenix, AZ, Stacy J. Hollister of Dallas, TX, and Sean Hollister and wife, Andrea of Monroe, LA; granddaughter, Megan Hollister of Monroe, LA; brother, W.J. Hollister and wife, Katie of Mankato, MN; sister, Mavis Meyer and husband, Lewis of Welcome, MN; step children, Pam Frith and husband, Ken and Don Cummings and wife, Judy; four step grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dr. Bill Arrington, Lavelle Ivy, Charles Lane III, William Hance, Donald Cummings and Frenchie DeMers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Northeast Louisiana Bowlers Association. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, LA, The Alzheimer's Association, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a Special Thanks to the LA War Veterans Home for the loving care given to Dr. Hollister.
