Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 2, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, 312 Smith Street, Farmerville, Louisiana. Mrs. Holloway was born July 30, 1933 in Union Parish, and died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Katy, Texas. She was surrounded by her husband of 54 years and their daughter, Sharon Holloway Hammit, at the time of her passing. She married the love of her life, Glen Wells Holloway on December 23, 1961 and was blessed with their only child, Sharon Holloway in 1967. While living in Houston for most of her adult life, she was a member of Berachah Church for 32 years. After retirement, she and her husband moved back to Union Parish, where she attended Evergreen Baptist Church. She graduated from Bernice High School in 1951 and completed Business College in Shreveport. She was employed in the area of secretarial/ office management and was a retired executive of a Texas Real Estate firm. She will be remembered as an outstanding wife and mother and as a loving individual who enriched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her family meant everything to her and was her life. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. One of her many outstanding qualities was a remembrance for the particular food a loved one enjoyed. For the annual family reunions, she would make sure that she prepared from scratch a special dish or dessert, remembering that individual's name and insuring that part of it was reserved for them. As a wife, her house was impeccable and she was an excellent cook, baker and manager of the household budget. As a mother, she would get up at 4:00am in order to fry chicken for her daughter's lunch. And that was before going to work. She never missed her daughter's swim meets under the hot Texas sun or an important event and three graduations. She loved to tend to flowers and what she enjoyed the most in life was being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her two grandsons, Remington and Wyatt dearly. She loved them to the point that she could not stand to hear even the slightest reprimand given to them by their parents. Her grandsons' believed that Nana and Papa's house was heaven. She would always keep them safe, but in the words of her grandson Remington he had, "Life, freedom and happiness", while in her care. She always bought them many gifts and especially enjoyed picking out their Easter outfits. The most important gift she gave them was knowledge and love of our Lord Jesus Christ. She had extensive knowledge of the Bible and taught them many scriptures and principles relevant to whatever was going on in their lives and how to act properly. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Glen Wells Holloway, a daughter, Sharon Holloway Hammit, her husband, Rick Hammit, two grandsons, Wyatt Floyd Hammit, Remington James Baker and his father J. Baker. Also surviving is a sister, Faye Simpson Roger, 112 nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, Robert E. and Bertha Simpson, and eight siblings. Pallbearers will be Todd Holloway, Melinda LaCaze, Marci Zettlemoyer, Jay Holloway, Jerri Lynn Corville, and Earline Evans, Remington Baker, Jeff LaCaze, Scott Simpson, Kathy Simpson, and James Lester. Flowers may be sent to Farrar Funeral Home and contributions can be made to St. Jude Hospital.
