Betty Swanson and Rev. Ben McGehee officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mrs. Holloway was born in Coffeeville, AL on May 1, 1920 to Sam Grimes and Eva Mott Grimes, and died 6:00 PM, March 6, 2017, at Landmark Nursing Home in West Monroe. She has been a resident there for the last 2 years. At this time, the family would like to thank the staff for the care and compassion shown to our mother. Also, special thanks to Ascend Hospice Care for their service in the last few months. Mrs. Holloway was a charter member of Lea Joyner Church. She and Elmo were active rom their days at Southside UMC with Rev. Lea Joyner and later at the Old Sterlington Road location. Some groups in which she participated were the Young at Heart Choir, the Widows and Widowers luncheon and Count Me In gatherings. Kathryn also went on many church trips, traveling abroad as well. She also participated in mission trips and helped wherever she could. She was known for her love of her church and the people of the church. She served on the Church Administrative Board and other committees of the church. The love of her Newcomer Sunday school class was another driving force in her life. She loved her Elmo, gardening and serving others. Mrs. Holloway was a retiree from Sears and serviced many departments. She also worked with Sonny Panzico's. Mrs. Holloway was preceded in death by her husband, St. Elmo Holloway; and parents, Sam and Eva Mott Grimes. Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Jean B. Richardson and "Rich" Blaine A. Richardson; grandchildren, Terri Lynn and Dr. Kathryn Richardson of Shreveport, LA; brother, Henry P. Jones and wife Julia of Jonesboro, AR, and his children, Allen and "Libby". Pallbearers will be Mike Hammock, Bobby Skeen, Buddy Hemler, Gene Berry, Ray Swanson and Gene Waalk. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA.
