HOLTON Funeral services for Mr. J.W. Holton of West Monroe, LA will be at 10:00am Thursday, January 28, 2016 at West Heights Missionary Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Bro. Cecil Herrington officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens in West Monroe, LA under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Mr. Holton was born December 31, 1937 in Pioneer, LA and passed from this life on January 25, 2016 in West Monroe, LA at the age of 78. He was loved and respected by so many. He was devoted, first of all, to his Lord and Savior. He was also very proud of his grandchildren. He spent many hours, and much gas, hauling them around his yard in a trailer behind his lawn mower. Later in years, he let them do the driving, which could quickly become a catastrophe, because we all know how observant he was. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather anyone could ever ask for. He will be terribly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, JY and Merline Holton; two brothers, Charles Holton and Paul Holton; and two sisters, Barbara Jean Holton and Betty Brohan. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, June Holton of West Monroe, LA; his children, Jay Holton (Ann) and Eric Holton (Kristi) all of West Monroe, LA and Lori Gibson (Larry) of Delhi, LA; grandchildren, Jeffrey Gibson, Julie Crain (Nick), Sarah Puckett (Parris) and Marilee Holton; great-grandson, Rett Crain; step-grandchildren, Todd Self, Scott Self and Gwenee Banes (Wayne); step great- grandchildren, Logan Self, Nocona Self, Taylor Self, Kara Banes, Jayde Self and Meadow Banes; siblings, Ray Holton (Mary), Jimmy Holton (Sherry), Helen Washington (Joe), Mary Ann Tucker (Van), Sharon Newman (Larry) and Nancy Holton; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters- in-law and friends. Pallbearers will be Woodie Funderburk, Ricky Eads, Sean Newman, Dennis Holton, Terry Dumas and Steve Rogers.
