Bro. Jeff Luellen will officiate and will be assisted by Bro. Robin Roark. Interment will follow at Monroe Memorial Park, Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Brenda was born July 26, 1945 in Monroe, LA and passed away March 5, 2009 in West Monroe, LA surrounded by her loving and devoted family. A life-long member of Ridge Avenue Baptist Church, Brenda was actively involved in Woman's Missionary Union, Adult Choir, co-founded the English as a Second Language Ministry in 1994 and served as its Coordinator until 2008. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and attending gospel music concerts. She retired from U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development after 31 years of service. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Elsie Mason, Myrtle and Thomas McCullough, and Yeldon Tarver. She is survived by her son, Dewayne Hood (Breanna,) grandchildren; Reagan Hood, Caden Hood, Brooke Whitehead and Lacey Bush, parents; Ray and Irene Mason; sister, Janice Dumas (Larry); nephew, Todd Dumas ( Dianna); niece, Traci Dumas Payne (Dennis);great-nieces, Lauren and Avery Dumas; and special friend, Larry McGuffee, an aunt, Gladys Hodge and numerous cousins. Pallbearers will be Jared Smith, Butch Gilliam, Mel Shackelford, Henry Chriceol, Todd Dumas, and Bob Dumas. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ESL program or the Annie Armstrong Missions Offering at RABC.
