Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church Chatham with Rev. Bill Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Chatham Cemetery. Nettie was born on November 23, 1914 in Chatham, LA and passed away at home on July 16, 2017. She was a graduate of Chatham High School. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Chatham for many years. Mrs. Hood was retired with Field Enterprises where she was a marketing and sales trainer. She was also an avid sports fan whose favorite teams were Louisiana Tech, LSU and the University of Arkansas. Nettie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Powell; six sisters; four brothers; son-in-law, Andrew H. Farless, Jr.; granddaughter, Andrea Kay Farless. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Beth Hood of Chatham and Lynette Hood Farless of Monroe and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Greg Freeland, Collin Freeland, Roy Shivor, Ray Lindsay, Jr., Allen Upshaw, Dr. Steven Kitchings, John Brooker Powell III, Denny Garner, Ronny Carpenter and Mark Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church Chatham. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church Chatham. We want to thank First Choice Hospice and her sitters, Elizabeth Underwood Phillips, Alicia Treadway and Barbara Fenn for taking such good care of her. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Chatham, Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or a charity of your choice.
