"A Time to Be Born" Sarah Nell Owens Clay Howell was born on October 15, 1942 in New Orleans, LA to the late Mildred Jones Owens and Edward Thomas Owens, Jr. "A Time to Die" She departed this life, Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at her home surrounded by and in the comfort of loved ones. "A Time to Plant" She was united with the New Light Baptist Church by baptism in August, 1991 under the present leadership. She has served on the Wedding committee, the Scholarship committee and has been the church announcer for several years. "A Time to Build Up" She received a B.S. degree in English education from Grambling College in 1963. Additional hours were earned at California State University at Los Angeles. Sarah began her teaching career in Los Angeles along with a career in real estate. Sarah taught English at Carroll High School and at Neville High School. After retiring in 2004, she became a realtor with John Rea Realty. After having been widowed from Marlon Clay in 1989, Sarah and Autrey Lane Howell were united in holy matrimony on July 6, 1991. "A Time of Peace" She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Edward Owens and one sister, Eunice Owens Jones. "A Time to Weep and a Time to Mourn" She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband, Autrey Lane Howell; two children: Gabrielle Elizabeth Clay of Hollywood, CA and Monique Janine Clay of Monroe, LA; one very precious granddaughter, Zoey Rashelle Thomas of Monroe, LA; one sister: Barbara A. Theard of Los Angeles, CA and one brother, Dale Martin Owens of New Orleans, LA; sister-in-law, Octavia Frazier and husband Curtis of Monroe, LA; three brothers-in-law: Michael Lionel Howell, Sr. and wife Jacqueline of Monroe, LA, Reverend Delles Howell, Sr. and wife Shelia of Monroe, LA, Andre Revere Howell of Monroe, LA; four sisters-in-laws: Lois Jean Brooks and husband Webster of Desoto, TX, Mary McLeaud Howell of Monroe, LA, Jiloradine Alva Caddell of Monroe, LA, Sandra Lanier Howell of Dallas, TX. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends to cherish her memories. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM, New Light Baptist Church.
