Lynn Malone and Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Jean Gentry Huenefeld, born in Monroe, LA on February 23, 1930, was the oldest child of Jean Littleton Gentry and Herschel A. Gentry, Sr. Jean passed away on November 20, 2015. Jean lived all her life in the Twin Cities attending Milsaps Grammar School, Crosley Elementary School, and Ouachita Parish High School. Jean and Fred were high school and college sweethearts. Their senior year in high school, Jean was the Homecoming Queen while Fred was the Captain of the Ouachita Parish football team. She attended LSU, graduating with degrees in Sociology and Psychology. At LSU, she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and served in the campus Senate where she was a Co-Ed Vice-President. Jean was also a long time member of the Review Club, Monroe Garden Club, Monroe Junior League and Republican Women's Club. Since 1990, she served as the Program Chairman and the secretary of the Monroe Branch of the English Speaking Union of the U.S. She also was on the Cooley House Foundation Board and worked in the Book Room for the Monroe Symphony League. Jean joined the Fort Miro Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1965, having been recently recognized as a fifty year member. Jean also worked as a realtor for over 30 years before retirement in 2010. She was predeceased by her parents, Jean and Herschel Gentry, and her precious daughter, Sylvia Jean Huenefeld. Jean was an excellent wife and helper to her husband of sixty-four years, Fred W. Huenefeld, Jr. A lady of strength and dignity, Jean passed along these traits together with her love for family to her children, Stella Rebecca Huenefeld Harrod and husband, Chet, Frederick William Huenefeld, III and wife, Tonja and Rachel Littleton Huenefeld. One of her greatest joys was living near her brother, Herschel A. Gentry, Jr. and wife, Lillian, and sister, Sylvia Gentry Wilkins and husband, Charles. Her joys and delights were her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Geoffrey Chandler Harrod, Dr. Christopher Chambliss Harrod and wife, Rebecca, William Bennett Harrod and wife, Kellyn, Thomas Frederick Huenefeld, Maggie Grace Huenefeld, Hannah Barbara Huenefeld, James Calvin Huenefeld, Mary Emma Huenefeld, Sadie Jackson Huenefeld, Abby Rea Huenefeld, Naomi Rose Huenefeld, Katherine Mae Huenefeld; George Chesterfield Harrod, III, Richard Wait Harrod, Anna Charles Harrod, Liam Bennett Harrod, Christopher Chambliss Harrod, Jr. and one grandchild and one great grandson to be born in the spring. Aunt Betty was cherished by her nieces and nephews, John Stewart Gentry and wife, Wendy, Laura Ashley Wilkins Willhite, Sylvia Jean Wilkins Sharplin, and husband, Dan, Elizabeth Diana Gentry Breen and husband, Mike, and their children and grandchildren. Jean left her imprint upon her many friends, who cherished her friendship as did she. Pallbearers will be Geoffrey Chandler Harrod, Dr. Christopher Chambliss Harrod, William Bennett Harrod, Thomas Frederick Huenefeld, James Calvin Huenefeld, John Stewart Gentry, Michael Scott Breen, Edward Overton Cailleteau, and John Haste. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
