GRAHAM LACY HUMBLE


Graham Lacy Humble, age 82, died February 13, 2013. He was born in Monroe, 
Louisiana to Louise Littlepage and John Randolph Humble on September 22, 1930. 
His grandmother was Sallie Lacy Humble for whom Sallie Humble School is named. 
Graham Humble graduated from Ouachita High School at age 17, attended Louisiana 
Tech for one year until he was of age (18) to accept his appointment from U.S. 
Congressman Otto Passman to attend West Point Military Academy. He graduated 
from West Point in 1952 and was placed on active duty as an officer in the US 
Army. While at West Point, Mr. Humble was recognized as the athletic 
representative for his class. Graham married his wife of 60 years, Addie Boggs 
Humble on August 31, 1952. During his service to his country, his wife and then 
later son, Joseph Elgin Humble lived in Okinawa for several years. His 
daughter, Mary Susan Humble was born in a military hospital in 1956. Graham 
Humble was promoted to Captain through his work with the Louisiana National 
Guard, following his leaving the Army as a 1st Lieutenant.

Following his service to the Army, Graham Humble entered the workforce in sales 
in Kansas City, Missouri; later moved back home to work with his father at 
Ouachita Abstract and Title Company. When that business was sold, Graham was 
employed for the rest of his career and retired as a stockbroker at the Monroe 
office of Merrill Lynch. 

Graham Humble was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he 
served through the years as a Sunday school teacher and later superintendent, 
Deacon, Elder and Trustee. He also was a member of the Monroe Jaycees, Monroe 
Optimist Club and the Chennault Aviation Museum. 

Graham Humble is preceded in death by his parents, his older sister, Elizabeth 
Humble Carter and his older brother, John Humble. He is survived by his wife, 
Addie Humble; his two children and their spouses, Joe and Sylvia Humble and 
Mary Sue and Ford Jacka; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Faulk Hughes and her 
husband, Matt, Jake Humble, Melinda Humble and Caroline Jacka. 

Burial will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Mulhearn 
Memorial Park Cemetery. On Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. friends 
of the Humble family are invited by members of the congregation of Covenant 
Presbyterian Church to attend a memorial service honoring Graham Humble with 
family visitation and fellowship to follow the service. 

The family would like to thank Louisiana Hospice and Palliative care, 
especially Tina Koonce for their care and comfort during his battle with 
sarcoma cancer as well his beloved grandson and caregiver, Jake Humble. Also 
the family wishes to express thanks to his wonderful team of physicians; 
Charles Morgan, M.D., Frank Sartor, M.D., John Ledbetter, M.D., Jay Altick, 
M.D. and the staff of Aron's Pharmacy.

Pallbearers are Ford Jacka, Jake Humble, Matt Hughes, Raymond Haik, Bruce Rux, 
and Trey Pleasants. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Lawrence, Wallace Hargon, 
Fred Huenefeld, and Harry Liner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church or 
the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
