She was born on July 29, 1936, in New Orleans,LA, the daughter of John Milton deBen and Alice Blessey Deben. She attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans. She married Wesley S. Shafto, Jr. in 1958 in New Orleans and moved to Monroe LA, where they resided for many years. She loved her hometown of New Orleans, flowers, gardening, fishing at her camp in Cocodrie, LA, traveling and she had an exceptional gift for cooking and entertaining. She was preceded in death by her parents, John M. deBen and Alice Blessey deBen, a daughter, Alice Neville Shafto, her first husband, Wesley S. (Bobby) Shafto, Jr, and a brother, John Milton deBen Jr. She is survived by her husband, Alex T. Hunt, Jr., whom she married in 1994 and shared fourteen wonderful and happy years. She is also survived by her daughter, Sallie deBen Shafto of Monroe, her son, Wesley S. Shafto, III, his wife Jennifer and grandson, Hudson Wesley Shafto and Cole Skender all of Monroe. She is also survived by members of the Hunt family, Davis and Sandra Hunt, Tommy Hunt, Trott and Karen Hunt, Jimmy and Ann Hunt and their children. Her family wishes to thank the many lifelong and devoted friends who were kind and caring of their actions, thoughts, prayers and friendship. The family is very appreciative of the care and treatment she received by the physicians and staff of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, Memorial services are incomplete at this time.
