He died October 26, 2014, at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 25 years, Adelaide Murdock Hunt; a brother, Virgil Davis Hunt; and sisters-in-law, Laura James Hunt and Sandra Gray Hunt. Tommy grew up in Ruston where he attended A.E. Phillips Laboratory School and graduated from Ruston High School. After high school he attended Baylor Prep in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 1957, he graduated from Georgia Tech where he was a member of Beta Theta Phi fraternity. Upon graduation, he returned to Ruston to work along side his father and brothers in Hunt Lumber Company where he was a plant manager in Zwolle, and Lumber Sales Manager. In 1972 he went to work at Willamette Industries in lumber sales where he retired in 1996. Tommy was a past member of First Presbyterian Church of Ruston, and was a member and deacon at John Knox Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed music and the arts and was a past president of the Ruston Civic Symphony. He was also a member of the National Guard for eight years. Tommy loved to travel, and he thoroughly enjoyed gathering with all his friends at the duck camp in the fall . Tommy will be remembered most, by those who knew and loved him, for his kind and gentle spirit and his wonderful wit. He is survived by: a brother, Alex T. Hunt, Jr. and his wife, Willie, of Ruston; brother-in-law, Dr. William H. Murdock and his wife, Ruth, of Gulfport, Mississippi; nieces and nephews: Alex "Trott" Hunt, III and his wife Karen, of Ruston; James Davis Hunt and his wife, Ann, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Virgil Davis Hunt, Jr. and his wife, Mary Kay, of Nashville, Tennessee; Elizabeth H. Wallace and her husband, Jack, of Nashville, Tennessee; Martha H. Givhan and her husband, Fred, of Dallas, Texas; and Margaret Murdock, of Gulfport, Mississippi. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, and many, many great, great nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service for friends and family at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston on Wednesday, October 29, at 4:00 p.m. with a time of visitation afterwards at the home of Alex Hunt, Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's disease Foundation or a charity of one's choice .
