After graduation from Newcomb College in 1947, she married Jack Tom Jackson with whom she had John Edgar Jackson, Jennifer Jackson Moss, Woody Jackson and Amy Jackson Dixon. Betty B. later attended Florida State University in 1969 to obtain her Master's Degree in Library Science. Upon return to Monroe, LA, she served as Library Administrator initially for Caldwell Parish and later for Franklin Parish. Betty B.'s love for her family and friends was always apparent. Having mastered the technology of emails, she was known for her constant and frequent entertaining communication skills. Her passion for gardening and her yard sustained her such that even a week prior to her death, you could drive past her Forsythe home and find her weeding and planting in her flower beds. When she wasn't gardening, she was enjoying a bridge table with friends or entertaining. Her inexhaustible supply of energy and love encouraged all. Advice was never withheld! Her sharp mind and her sense of humor will be sorely missed. Betty B. was predeceased by her parents, former husband Jack Tom Jackson, her son John Edgar Jackson and all seven siblings of the Baucum Family. She is survived by daughters Jenny Jackson Moss (Charlie) and Amy Jackson Dixon as well as son Woody Jackson (Laura). She is also survived by grandchildren Meredith Moss Christenberry (Daniel), Andrew Moss, Miller Moss, Craig Dixon, Katherine Dixon, Christopher Dixon, Margaret Jackson Moses (Brent) and Sandra Jackson Codrescu (Lucian). She greatly enjoyed seeing the birth of several great-grandchildren; Addison & Emma Moses, Marcus, Joshua & Emily Codrescu and most recently Olivia Christenberry, who is named after one of Betty B's sisters. She truly loved her family and they loved her; spending time together in Monroe, Denver, Cody, Little Rock and South Carolina whenever possible. Ford Pipes, her constant companion for many years, became an integral part of the family and deserves special recognition. The family would also like to acknowledge her special lifelong bridge group friends. There will be no graveside services. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, LA on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM. A visitation for family and friends will be held immediately following at 1208 Forsythe; Monroe, LA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in memory of Betty B. to Franklin Parish Library in Winnsboro, LA. www.franklinparishlibrary.org or (318) 435-4336.
