Father Bill Easterling will officiate. A private family graveside service will follow under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, LA. Visitation will be prior to the service on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 1-3 PM in Haskell Hall at the church. John Thomas "John Tom" James was born on August 17, 1941 and passed into God's eternal Kingdom on December 21, 2016. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer of Ruston. He graduated from Ruston High School in 1959, earned his BS in 1963, and his MBA in 1964 from Louisiana Tech University. John Tom met the love of his life, Beverlee Biscomb, in 1957 at Ruston High School. They were married June 2, 1962 and were the love of each other's lives for 54 years. In 1965, he began working for T. L. James and Company. In 1971, he obtained his real estate license and began his career as a real estate broker operating J. T. James Corporation. He was involved in many companies, including J. T. James Corporation, Cambridge Development Corporation, Oilfield Development Corporation, Sunbelt Corporation, Chautauqua Square Partnership and JJ Technical Services. He loved fishing and hunting, but most of all he enjoyed teaching and helping others learn to enjoy the sport, often being referred to as the "Crappie King" of North Louisiana. John Tom was predeceased by his parents: Floyd Benjamine James and Katherine Ayres James; sister; Renna James Burkhalter; brother, Floyd Benjamine James, Jr.; sister-in-law, Barbara Biscomb McCullin; and nephews: Lewell Orum Burkhalter, Jr. and Bryan James Burkhalter. John Tom is survived by his loving wife, Beverlee Biscomb James; children: John Thomas James, Jr. and wife, Jennifer Adkins James; Matthew Ayres James and wife, Jill Grigsby James; and Renita Myers; grandchildren: John Thomas James, III, Henry Floyd James, and Annie Rose James; brother-in-law, Troy Biscomb and wife, Angie; sister-in-law: Kiki Biscomb Wardlaw and husband, Chastain; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Benji James, Steve Burkhalter, David Burkhalter, Al James, Dicky Nealy, Butch Hightower, Dan O'Neal, III, and Joe Raymond Peace. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Norris, Leo Friday, Donald Zadeck, George Parkman, Joe Glasgow, Howard Willis, Bob Price, Paul Hogan, Jerry Huckaby, Allen Herbert, John O'Neal, Sammy White, and Togie Gardner. John Tom's family would like to give special recognition and thanks to Dr. Shane Phillips, Dr. David Osafo, and to all the caregivers.
