Officiating will be Dr. Randall D. Sledge. Burial will follow at Pines Memorial Gardens in Ruston. Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick on Friday, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Mrs. Jarred was born April 14, 1937 in Ruston and passed away in Shreveport on February 22, 2009. She graduated with a B.A. in English Education from Louisiana College, a M.A. in Librarianship from the University of Denver, CO, and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Studies from Texas Women's University in Denton, TX. She served as Director of Reader Services at Louisiana College in Pineville, as Cataloger at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and as Assistant Librarian at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She was promoted from Senior Librarian to Head Librarian and Professor at Louisiana State University at Alexandria. She retired from Northwestern State University as Director of Libraries and Professor and was a twenty-two year resident of Natchitoches. She is a former member of Parkview Baptist Church in Alexandria. Her professional memberships included the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, the Louisiana Library Association, Louisiana Academic Library Information Network Consortium, Beta Phi Mu, Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Kappa Phi, and Phi Alpha Theta. Her civic memberships included the Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches, Natchitoches Historic Foundation, Lesche Club, Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Guild, and the Natchitoches Genealogical and Historical Association. Mrs. Jarred was preceded in death by her parents, Manumous Lamar "Pete" and Octava Sledge Delony of Hilly and her grandparents William Dothan and Ada Dixon Sledge of Martin and James Henry and Carrie Wilder Delony of Hilly. She is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Jarred of Shreveport, brother Lamar Delony, Jr. and wife Jan of West Monroe, nephew Kevin Delony and wife Amy of Mechanicsville, VA, great niece Rachel and great nephew Connor Delony of Mechanicsville. Pallbearers will be Kevin Delony, Roy Delony, Roderick C. Duchesne, Jr., John E. Maxwell, Ruel Gene Roberson, Jonathan Sledge, Wayne Sledge, and John H. Snyder. Memorials may be made to Susan G.
