RENA JARVIS


Funeral services for Mrs. Rena "Bessie" Jarvis, 88, will be held at 2pm Friday 
at Community of Christ West Monroe. Interment will follow at Community of 
Christ Cemetery Eros under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jarvis was born to the union of Alva N. and Mattie Costin Thornell in 
Eros, LA on June 1, 1925 and continued her spiritual journey on Monday 
afternoon June 3, 2013 at her residence.

She was a resident of West Monroe, a retired LPN; a member of Community of 
Christ West Monroe, where she has served as pastor also. She enjoyed cooking, 
sewing and gardening. Her passion was for her church and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bythel "Bill" Jarvis; 
siblings Enos Thornell and Acle McMillian.

Survivors include her children Laura Hoell (Henry), Judy Jarvis and Martin 
Oliver Jarvis; also survived by 4 granddaughters, 7 great grandchildren, nieces 
and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Jay McMillian, John 
McMillan, Robert Williams, James Herold Jr., Oliver Jarvis, Paul Porch, Henry 
Hoell, Jon Young, Glenn Bell and Mark Hassion.

Memorial may be sent to Camp Quality, Community of Christ West Monroe Building 
Fund or Community of Christ Cemetery Fund, Eros.

Visitation will be after 12noon until time of service at Community of Christ 
6462 Cypress St. West Monroe.
