MARTIEL AUTREY JOHNS

Graveside service for Martiel Autrey Johns will be held on Saturday May 24, 2014 
at 12:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Park at 8801 Mansfield Rd. Shreveport, LA 
71108. To her family\friends Martiel (Mother, Mom, Mrs. Johns, Maw, Grandmother, 
and Great Grandmother she passed away on May 17, 2014. Martiel was born January 
20, 1922 in Jonesboro, LA to S.J. and Zula Barnes Autrey. Preceding her were six 
siblings and oldest son Travis. She was an active East Carroll Parish Homemaker, 
raising her family on the farm where her love of poetry began. She was a member 
of the Monroe Chapter and Louisiana State Poetry Society for over 45 years. She 
has published poems. Her children were active in many school clubs and sports of 
which she supported as a parent and chaperoned. Here to cherish her memories are 
children; Terry Johns of Alsatia, LA., Linda McCullough of Shreveport, LA., 
Gayle Dillon of Jonesboro, LA., Larry Johns and Marsha of Bossier City, LA., 
Gary Johns and Judy of Transylvania, LA., Gawain Johns of New Iberia, LA., 
Leslie Johns of Jonesboro, LA., Judy Johns of Shreveport, LA., Jan Johns of 
Winnfield, LA., Keith Johns of Epps, LA., grandchildren; Tommy Sharplin and Jane 
of Quitman, LA., Timmy Sharplin of Jonesboro, LA., Sean McCullough and Melissa 
of Shreveport, LA., Heath McCullough of Shreveport, LA., Wendy Wilkerson and 
Mickey of Calhoun, LA., Jennifer Morris and Hank of Doyline, LA., Cari Johns of 
Shreveport, LA., Chenille Gil and Joey of Jonesboro, LA., Clay Johns and Amy of 
Bossier City , LA., Jessica Johns of Jonesboro, LA., great - grandchildren; 
Victoria and Grace Sharplin, Jeffrey Souto, Emma and Will Wilkerson, Joeci 
Morris, Ashton, Lilith and Alice Gil. Also left to cherish her memories are 
nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers 
family suggests memorials may be made to East Carroll Parish Library 109 Sparrow 
Street, Lake Providence, LA., 71254 and Cotton Museum 7162 Hwy 65 North, Lake 
Providence, LA., 71254. Thanks to the doctors, nursing staff at WK South, and 
the Guest House for their loving care.
