"Miss Lou," as she was known to many, was born in Alsatia, LA on August 6, 1921, the daughter of Thomas Vacel Razer and Ella Rosemond Razer. She was a past member of the Miss America Beauty Pageant Board of Executive Directors and judged in 46 state- level pageants, selecting a number of winners that went on to become Miss America or finalists. She was the life-long mistress of Homestead Plantation in Transylvania, LA and was an accomplished prize-winning artist. She was preceded in death by husbands Jack G. Shaffer, Russel C. Fleeman, and Myatt B. Johnson. Survivors include a son, Jack Dale Shaffer and wife Terry of Baton Rouge; grandson William Russel Shaffer and wife Michele of Baton Rouge; granddaughter Juanita Louise Shaffer of Baton Rouge; great-granddaughter Julia Patience Shaffer of Baton Rouge; nephew T.V. Razer and wife Cindy of Ruston; niece Carla Manzini and husband Richard of Greensboro, PA; niece Jennifer Ann Razer of Ponce Inlet, FL; and niece Marsha Ballard and husband Dr. Richard I. Ballard, Ruston. A special thanks is given to care-giver Henrietta Thompson. Pallbearers will be William Wade Burton, James Greg Johnson, William Bradley Johnson, Chris Antho ny Johnson, Thomas Vacel Razer, and William Russel Shaffer. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Richard I. Ballard, George Fox, David Harvey, and all the members of the Sandy Creek Rod and Gun Club. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 24 at Cox Funeral Home, Delhi, LA, with visitation from noon Monday until services. Interment will be at Faith Memorial Park in Delhi.
