She died peacefully at home with her family. Mrs. Geraldine was born February 10, 1935 in Baskin, LA and passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 in Mangham, LA. She was born on February 10, 1935 in Baskin, LA to Edwin R. Lowry and Eva Williamson Lowry. She grew up on a farm in the Zebedee community outside of Rayville and graduated from Rayville High School. She made her home in Mangham, LA for the last 50 years of her life. Geraldine enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was never hesitant about phoning friends and relatives to check on them and stay in touch. She loved life and never wanted for excessive material things. She enjoyed gardening and canning and sharing the fruits of her labor with her family. She loved to fish and her family thought she was the best cook around. Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Hazel Watson; brother, Alton Lowry; and her daughter-in-law, Dolly Smith. Survivors include her husband, Charlie Johnson, Jr.; her sons, Jimmy Smith and Wayne Smith and wife, Debra of Natchez, MS, Leslie Smith of Jackson, MS, and Michael Johnson of Mangham, LA; her brother, James Lowry and wife, Linda of Rayville, LA.; six-grandchildren and nine-great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Scott Lowry, Michael Johnson, Brian Smith, Chris Smith, Nick Smith, and Eddie Lowry. Funeral services are at 3:00 PM, Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Mangham Baptist Church with Bro. Rick Aultman officiating. Interment will follow in the Greer Cemetery, Rayville, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville. Visitation is 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Sunday at the Mangham Baptist Church.
