Johnson, 90, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 5, 2017, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Clyde Sanchez officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Johnson was born February 24, 1927, in Winnsboro, LA and passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, at his residence. He was a U. S. Navy veteran serving during WWII in the Seabees on Truk Island. He was a farmer in Ouachita and Franklin Parishes and farmed for 70 years. Mr. Johnson loved to fish and hunt. He was the man to talk to if you wanted to know anything about cotton. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Jake Johnson; son, Brian Johnson; sisters, Wylonda Carroll, Ethel "Tina" Baird, and Mary Jean Hatten. Survivors include his children: daughter, Stephanie Johnson Sawyer and husband T. S. of Forrest, MS, and son, Stanley Johnson of Monroe, LA; 5 grandchildren, Zachary Holloway, Christopher Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Chad Johnson, and Nathan Carlock; sisters, Carolyn Nelson and husband Ray, and Linda Dear; brothers, Jake Johnson and wife Charlann, and Peyton Johnson and wife Shelly; 7 great grandchildren, and very special friend, Doris Trichel. Pallbearers will be Scott Posey, Mike Venable, Sherman Shaw, Danny Duke, Keith Babb, Sal Petitto, and Ronnie Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Franklin, Charles Venable, Scott Cummins, Fred Huenefeld, T. S. Sawyer, Tommy Merrill, and Billy Bankston. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
