Edna was born on October 5, 1920 in Fort Necessity, LA. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years-J. C. Johnston; youngest of three sons-Gary Johnston; her parents-Malone Crain and Braxton G. Taylor; and sister-Rethie Womack. Survivors include two sons-Jerry L. Johnston and wife Debbie Oglesby Johnston of Sicily Island and Donnie E. Johnston and wife Marion Mixon Johnston of Natchitoches, LA; three granddaughters-Julia Johnston Wiggers Gilmore and husband Gerald of Extension, LA, Karen Johnston Gerrato of Boca Raton, FL, and Amanda Johnston Talley and husband Brook of Bowling Green, KY; five great grandchildren-Mindy Wiggers Spillars and husband Colby Spillars, Drew Wiggers and wife Sunny Brown Wiggers, Julian Serrato, Braxton Talley, and Jackson Talley; and three great-great grandchildren-Cole Spillars, Braden Spillars, and David Michael Wiggers; two brothers-Barney E. Taylor and wife Cecil and James W. Taylor and wife Joyce both of Fort Necessity; one sister-Verdia Taylor Beach of Monroe; and numerous loving cousins , nieces, and nephews. For over 50 years, she was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Winnsboro and until just recently she personally mailed birthday, get well, and condolence cards to her church family members. She was an accomplished quilter, and receiving one of her quilts was a prized gift. She was also an avid and skilled fisherwoman for many, many years. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Mulhearn Funeral Home Winnsboro, LA. The Rev. Jimmy Harper of Temple Baptist Church and Rev. Bobby Ensminger will officiate. Interment will be immediately following the services at the Ogden Cemetery, Liddieville, LA. The family will also receive relatives and friends at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Walter Arnold Beach, Douglas Glen Beach, Glen Dale Womack, Ricky Womack, Aaron Robinson, and Allen Taylor.
