David Willoughby officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Mr. Johnston was born November 19, 1924 in Girard, LA., the oldest child of Theodore and Willie B Wilson Johnston. As a young man, he came to Monroe and met the love of his life, Floy Belle McClung. The couple wed on August 4, 1951, and raised three children in a loving, Christian home. The couple were members of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he served as a deacon until the time of his death. Mr. Johnston worked for over 40 years for Central Oil and Supply, driving tanker trucks to refineries in Texas six days a week and delivering gas to locations throughout northeast Louisiana. Each year, his family realized the fruits of his work ethic by traveling to visit locations throughout the United States. Mr. Johnston died at home in his sleep on October 13, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Floy and by his oldest son, Donald Reese Johnston; his parents; his brother Marvin Johnston; and sisters, Marie Johnston and Jewel Johnston. He is survived by: His daughter, Charlotte Johnston Rainwater and husband Mark of Monroe; son, James Dale Johnston of Monroe; brothers, Eugene Johnston and Billy Johnston, both of Alto; grandsons, Christopher Rainwater of Monroe and Joshua Rainwater of Nashville, Tennessee; two great granddaughters; and numerous other family members and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Carroll Dozier, Allen Eason, Roy Price, Howard Reese, Harry Roberts and Sonny Tarpley. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to Gideons International.
