Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the Forsythe Avenue Church of Christ with John Dobbs and Jason Barnard officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Jones was born on November 12, 1933 in Grayson, LA to Lottie Pankey Jones and Walter H. Jones, Sr. He graduated from Neville High School in 1952, attended Northeast Louisiana University and served in the U.S. Army. He first entered the grocery business working at his family's store and upon returning from the service, worked with F. Strauss & Son and Malone and Hyde for twenty- nine years. He owned and operated Ouachita Distributing Company along with his wife, Anne, for the last twenty-five years. He served on the board of directors of the Louisiana Wholesale Grocers Association and River Oaks School and was a member of Forsythe Avenue Church of Christ since 1969. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Morriece Jones, Murphy Jones, James D. Jones, and Walter H. Jones, Jr. Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Anne Stanley Jones; son, Donald Jones and wife Frances; daughter, Allison Chapman and husband Bill; five wonderful grandchildren, Whit and Ainsley Chapman of Monroe and Grayson, Thomas, and Mary Frances Jones of Dallas, TX; sisters, Lillian Stone, Ruth Newberry, and Frances Sparks and husband James D.; sisters-in-law, Betty Jones, Alma Patrick Jones, Delores Jones, Judy Hattaway and husband Charles; brothers-in-law, Gerald Stanley and wife Sherry and Richard Stanley and wife Betty Carol; many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be White Graves, Joe Cassiday, David Burkett, Mike Riley, Gerald Stanley, Paul Benjamin, and Gary Stanley. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Ouachita Distributing and his numerous nephews. Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday until service time at Forsythe Church of Christ, Monroe, LA.
