JONES Funeral services for Sherman I. Jones, age 85, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Officiating will be Dr. Mark Fenn, Rev. Kevin Daniel, and Rev. Jim Daniel. Interment will follow at Pinewood Cemetery, Crossett, Arkansas at 1:00 PM, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe and Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Arkansas. Sherman was born on May 22, 1930, and went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Machie and Harry Jones. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Jones; his son, Dr. Michael Jones; daughter, Diane Jones; sister, Ann Messier and husband, Don; sister-in- law, Fran Daniel and nephews, Dr. Matt Messier and wife, Dianne, Dr. Steve Messier and wife, Leila, Rev. Jim Daniel and wife, Terri, Shane Daniel and wife, Janie, Rev. Kevin Daniel and wife, Teresa, Joe Daniel and wife, Becky along with numerous great nieces and nephews. Sherman was a graduate of Crossett High School where he played clarinet in the band. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged, he enrolled in Louisiana Tech where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked as a professional engineer for General Electric Company, Olinkraft, Inc., Ford, Bacon & Davis, Inc., and B E & K of Birmingham, AL. He loved hunting, fishing, trap shooting, gardening, the outdoors, and his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe. Pallbearers will be Eric Daniel, Rev. Kevin Daniel, Joe Daniel, Chris Ferguson, Mark White, and Dr. David White. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl White, Johnny Mitchell, Raymond Williams, Barney Howard, Jerry Edmondson, Jerry Melton, Hix Landrum, and A. B. Smith. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, January 29, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Transform Fund of First Baptist Church, 500 Pine Street, West Monroe, LA 71291 or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
