Visitation will be Thursday, June 11, from 5:00-8:00 PM, with services on Friday, June 12 at 10:00 AM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Dr. George Wortham is the officiator. Interment will be at the Freeport Cemetery in Kansas. John D. was born in Wellington, Kansas, on May 18, 1927 to Neal Dow Jordan and Mildred Marion Jordan. He graduated from Harper High School in 1944 and attended Kansas State University. After spending his teen years harvesting wheat and milking cows on the family farm in Freeport, Kansas, he joined the Navy the day he graduated from high school, and served a tour in the Pacific. At the close of World War II, he met his wife Patricia and began racing hydroplane boats. He held multiple world speed records. In the wake of his racing career, he opened Jordan's Saw and Marine in West Monroe, and then expanded his business to include motorcycles. After retiring, he worked with Electrolux, where he enjoyed traveling and visiting with people. John never said an unkind word about anyone, and was known for his quick wit and infectious smile. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Scott Dodds Jordan. Survivors include his wife Patricia Jordan; sister Beverle Knoeppel; son Jon Jordan; daughter DeAnn (Buddy) Fitch; daughter Robyn Jordan; grandchildren Meagan (James) Boyer, Morgan Battillo, Melissa Jordan, and Ian Mathis, and great-grandchildren Aubrie and Clark Boyer; cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends that he considered family. Memorials may be made to Highland Presbyterian Church in West Monroe in the name of John David Jordan.
