Kilpatrick Funeral Home Farmerville, LA Funeral Services for William Kent Jung, Sr., 64 of Farmerville, LA will be held Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville, LA with Rev. Kurt Auger and Rev. Robbie Lawson officiating. Burial will be held at Farmerville City Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. William was born on July 15, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from James Madison High School in 1962. Married to his wife Joan Lawson Jung for 44 years, a father of two children, Carol and husband Glenn Smithwick of Farmerville and Billy and wife Darra of Farmerville, LA, a grand-father of four grand-children, Kaela, Carsen, Dylan, and Devin. He served in the Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Mr. Jung is preceded in death by his father Willard Christian Jung, mother Dorothy Kent Jung, and sister Barbara Ann Jung. In 1973, he packed up the family station wagon and moved to Farmerville. He worked as a supervisor for the town of Farmerville for twelve years, but always wanted to be his own boss so he started his fence company 24 years ago and never looked back. He coached Little League baseball for eight years. He was an active member in Farmerville Jaycees for five years. He was also Auxiliary Police Officer for the town of Farmerville for four years. He was a Volunteer Fireman for the town of Farmerville for 30 years. He served as Lieutenant for fifteen years. He served his community with pride and honor. In 2008 Bill was awarded the outstanding Citizen for Public Service by the Union Parish Chamber of Commerce. He loved hunting and never missed a Nascar race. He attended the Methodist church and always enjoyed Men's night there. His most prized possession was his 1955 turquoise and white Chevy BelAir. He was a board member of Hi-Lo Hunting Club. He was also a board member of Twin City Classic Chevy Car Club. Special thanks to Dr. David Osafo and staff, Dr. Richard Ballard and Cassandra Collins, Dr. Doug Liles and Dr. Steve Venters. Pallbearers will be Tommy Futch, Mike Clark, Bill Patterson, Bob Hanry, Ted Lamprich, and Thomas Sevin, Richie Lawson, Charles Johnson, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Farmerville Volunteer Fire Dept and Rack Pack Hunting Club Camp.
