Visitation will be held Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe, Louisiana. Elsie was born in Holly Ridge, Louisiana on January 30, 1942 and passed away at her home on December 4, 2015. She graduated from Ouachita Parish High School where she made many life-long friendships she and Ed still enjoy today. After graduation, Elsie began working at Merrill Lynch and through her career of 41 years, she also cultivated many friendships that she still treasured. In 1988, she married the love of her life, Ed Justice, and they enjoyed 27 years of working, traveling and entertaining together. Ed's devoted care during Elsie's illness brought her great comfort and certainly enhanced the last months of her life. They enjoyed many extended friendships through work, their beloved Sunday School class and the "Douglas" brothers and sisters. Through all of her personal and professional accomplishments, however, Elsie's greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. "Grammy" relished her role as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and always had an encouraging word, listening ear and open door. Holidays and birthdays were tradition at Grammy's house, and her family will greatly miss her infectious smile and laugh, her tight hugs, the wonderful smells from her kitchen and her world famous dumplings. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mellie Douglas; her grandson, Samuel Thomas Foust; her siblings, Earl Douglas and Helen Landby and her close friend and brother-in-law, Gerald McLaughlin. Survivors include her husband Ed (Popeye) Justice; her children Sherry Vidrine, Scott Foust and his wife, Cindy; her grandchildren, Austin and Laura Vidrine and Robert Scott and Angel Grace Foust. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Jerry Calloway (Ray), Betty Crawford (Ken), George Douglas (Pat), Marshall Douglas (Louise), Donna McLaughlin, Yvonne Douglas and John Landby and many loving nieces, nephews and friends as well as her children's father, Walter Foust. He and his wife, Wanda, were close friends whose love and support were cherished by both Elsie and Ed. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Austin Vidrine and Robert Scott Foust; and family friends, John Mark Wilhite, Johnnye Ford, Jerry Thomas, Mike Smith, Glen McAdams and Mickey Fontana. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry McDonald Herschel Ryan, Randy Kirby, Terry Barnhill, the Sonny Standifer Sunday School class and posthumously, Roy Bledsoe. A very special thanks to Sissy Cook, Jean Matthews, Nancy Smith, Beverly Sawyer, DeeDee Cook and Susan Lolley for the loving care they provided to our beloved "Grammy." Memorials may be made to the building fund at North Monroe Baptist Church, St. Jude's or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
