BROWN-HOLLEY FUNERAL HOMES

Rayville, LA

Funeral services for Paul Laverne Kemp, Sr., age 67, will be held 1:00 P.M. 
Friday, December 19, 2008, at New Prospect Baptist Church in Pioneer with Rev. 
Wayne Allen, Rev. John White, and Rev. Walter Cloud officiating. Interment 
will follow in Unity Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home 
of Oak Grove.

Mr. Kemp was born on April 29, 1941 in Pioneer, La. and passed away at his 
home on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 surrounded by his family. Laverne was the 
son of the late Jeffie and Annie Copes Kemp.

Laverne was a farmer, and a lover of the land. He was happiest spending time 
with his family, and driving his John Deere tractor.

Laverne loved and was loved by everyone who knew him. He taught us the real 
meaning of courage and faithfulness as he faced his lengthy illness. He was 
our hero.

Survivors include his wife, the love of his life for 49 years, Peggy S. Kemp 
of Pioneer; 3 children, Cindy Fowler and Husband, Steve of Monroe; Paula 
Torrance and Husband, John of Swartz; and Lee Kemp and wife, Lisa of Pioneer; 
3 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Ryan Fowler, Cody Torrance, and 
Brittany Kemp; special niece, Carolyn Dear of Rayville; 3 sisters, Carmen 
Pickering and husband, Hershel of Georgia; Ellen Bishop and husband, James of 
Bastrop; and Linda Branch and husband, Danny of West Monroe; 2 brothers, J. C. 
Kemp, Jr. of Florida; and Lukie Kemp and wife, Shirley of Pioneer; and Several 
Nieces and Nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chester Henshaw, Jim Dear, Bruce Stewart, Jason Self, 
Toney Smith, and Louis Kemp.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM unitl service timeon Friday at the church.
