Murrel William Kennedy, age 100 a retired minister of Oak Grove, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Goodwill Church of God in Goodwill, Louisiana. Friends are invited to visitation, which will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Goodwill Church of God. Reverends Jason Strong, Dr. Dwight Grubbs will officiate at the service and Dr. Jonathan Grubbs and Neal Oldham will officiate the graveside service. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove. Brother Kennedy passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Oak Woods Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Reverend Kennedy was an ordained pastor and evangelist for 68 years. He served churches in Northeast Louisiana as well as in Texas, Oklahoma, and Indiana. He was a respected and effective preacher, a people person, and a "Neighbor" to all. He was a lover of God's creation, an avid hunter and enjoyed farming and working with the "guys" on the farm. He was preceded in death by his first wife Rev. Lolita Luttrell Kennedy; his second wife, Evie Tyson Kennedy; daughter, Murleta Kennedy Holley; son-in-law, Alvin R. Oldham; great grandson, William Reece Kennedy; his father, William Kennedy; his mother, Frances Green Kennedy; and 3 brothers, Charles "Dub" Kennedy, Louis "Red" Kennedy and George "Newt" Kennedy; step grandson, Greg McIntyre and step great grandson, Landon McIntyre. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William Elton and Anne Kennedy of Mer Rouge, Louisiana; daughter, Glenna Kennedy Oldham of Jackson, Mississippi; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia Kennedy Grubbs and Dr. Dwight Grubbs of Anderson, Indiana; step son and step daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Annette McIntyre of Bastrop, Louisiana; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 2 step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren. Pallbearers are his grandsons and grandsons-in-law: Randall Oldham, Scott Clark, Tim Martin, Kenneth Strawn, Mark Strawn, Peter Fox, David Kemmerly, Ashley Dickson, Peyton Farr and Lee McIntyre.
