Interment will follow at the Jewish Cemetery on Manassas Street in Monroe. Courtney Leigh Kenney died unexpectedly on July 4th, 2014, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident near Shreveport. She was currently a senior at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she was an active member of Phi Mu sorority. She was majoring in Hospitality Management, and intended to use her degree plus her signature social graces to become an Event Planner. Courtney was born on August 21, 1990, in Dallas, TX. She graduated from Neville High School in 2009, where she was an honor student, a member of the Bengal Belles Dance Team, and an enthusiastic supporter of her beloved Neville Tigers. Courtney was a warm and caring person who was always surrounded by friends. She was a devoted daughter to her beloved mother Susan, and deeply committed to all of her family. She loved Sunday dinners with her cousins Mel and Nanette Cohen, celebratory trips to New Orleans, and vacations at the beach with her family and friends. She never met a stranger and continually welcomed new people into her circle. She is survived by her mother, Susan Kenney of Monroe, LA, and her father John Kenney of Dallas, TX; her great aunt, Phyllis Rose Raphael, of Monroe, LA, and an extended family of cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. Mortimer and Carol Raphael of Monroe, LA; her great uncle, Maurice Raphael of Bastrop, LA, and her uncle, Richard Raphael of New York, NY. Pallbearers will be Brian Katz, Stephen Katz, Tanner Boose, Allen Spires, David Kuhn, John Hoogland, Allan Raphael, and Jeff Seligman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple of B'Nai Israel Cemetery Fund or Neville Alumni and Friends Association. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA, 71203.
