KILLEN Funeral services for Winston J. Killen, age 75, of Farmerville, LA will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, LA with Rev. Wayne Whiteside officiating. Graveside service will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at Rose- Neath Chapel prior to service at 11:00 a.m. Born on May 12, 1941 in Leesville, LA, Winston passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 after a brief illness at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, LA. He was a 1959 graduate of Oak Hill High School in Rapides Parish. He attended Barber College in Beaumont, TX. He was a notary, held a Real Estate salesman license and a Broker license. He began his career in the U.S. Postal Service in Arcadia, served as a letter carrier in Ruston, a window clerk, and stand- in Supervisor for several years, as well as a Supervisor in Farmerville, LA. He was promoted to Station Manager of the Breard Station in Monroe, LA. He was chosen to be the Postmaster in Ferriday, LA. Wanting to return to the pine hills of North Louisiana he returned to Monroe until his retirement. Winston was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Aderine Cavanaugh Killen, and one brother, Kenton Gail Killen. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Hines Killen, one son, Alan Scott Killen and his wife Melinda of Ruston, LA, one granddaughter, Kirstie Shane Killen of Ruston and one grandson, Christian Kane Killen currently in Lake Charles, LA, one brother Carson Killen and his wife Jane of Baton Rouge, LA, many nieces and nephews, a band of first cousins, and his marriage family, a sister, Polly Hall of Friendship, LA, brother Harry Hines of Huntsville, AL, and brother Bobby Reid Hines and his wife Sue of Shreveport. Pallbearers will be Gary Hines, Jeffrey Hines, Mark Hines, Scott Ketrow, Mathew Killen and Ken Romero. Honorary pallbearers are dear friends; Jack Allen, Johnny Hearn, Rodney Johnson, Stephen Kelley, Donald Lindsey, Ron Oran, John Preaus, Joe Preaus, Mike Smith and Mack Waits. Family request memorial be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or your local Humane Society.
