KIPER Funeral services for Ernest Asa "Trey" Kiper III, 53, of Winnsboro, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at First Baptist Church of Wisner with the Rev. Thomas Peoples and Dr. Harry Boyd officiating. Interment will be at Oakley Cemetery in Wisner under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Wisner First Baptist Church. Trey passed away Oct. 29 at St. Francis Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lisa Kiper of Winnsboro; two daughters, Shelby and husband Cainan James and Kelly and husband Shane Longoria, all of Wisner; parents, Ernest and Mary Kiper of Wisner; brother and sister-in-law Myles and DeAnne Kiper of Wisner; sisters and brothers-in-law Kim and Tommy Kimbrough of Winnsboro and Cristi and Joey Naff of Ruston; grandchildren Kainley and Uriah James of Wisner; along with beloved nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Richard "Eddy" Kiper. Trey was a 1980 graduate of Franklin Academy and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in industrial technology from LSU in 1984. He worked most of his life in the family business, Kiper Hardware and Lumber Company in Wisner and Winnsboro, serving as president of the company. He was also president of the board of directors of Winnsboro State Bank and was an active member of the Winnsboro Lions Club. When he wasn't working, Trey had a passion for motorcycling, waterskiing and traveling with his family and friends. Trey was an active member of First Baptist Church of Wisner, where he served as a deacon and choir member and worked tirelessly in the church and community, often behind the scenes. He could always be counted on to assist with projects large and small - from major church construction to changing lightbulbs and tackling home repairs for local widows. Trey was a quiet man — so when he spoke, his words had impact. He was known for well-timed compliments, Godly wisdom, friendly encouragement and sharp humor. A man of deep faith and unwavering integrity, he remained steadfast even as his health declined, approaching each day with courage, grace and hope. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Pallbearers are Jesse Young, Marc McCarty, Mike Watson, George Boutwell, Harry Boyd, Wes Lowe and Jeff Ragusa. Honorary pallbearers are Cainan James and Shane Longoria, deacons of Wisner First Baptist Church, members of the Andrew Sunday School Class and the directors of Winnsboro State Bank. During his life, Trey made a habit of quietly, but generously, helping people in need as he encountered them. Those wishing to honor Trey with a memorial contribution are encouraged to find an opportunity to help someone less fortunate. Memorials may also be made to the ULM Baptist Collegiate Ministry Building Fund, P.O.
