Max Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home-Winnsboro, LA. Paul Wesley Kolb, a resident of the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe, died on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the age of 92. He was born on October 15, 1923 in Blue Springs, Mississippi. From 1943 to 1946 he served in World War II as a radio and telegraph operator for the 711th Tank Battalion of the US Army. He was educated at Sunflower Junior College, Mississippi College (Bachelor of Arts), the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky (Bachelor of Divinity, 1951, Master of Divinity, 1973) and Luther Rice Seminary in Jacksonville, Florida (Doctor of Ministry, 1975). He served as pastor of numerous churches including Farmhaven Baptist Church in Canton, Mississippi, New Hope Baptist Church in Drew, Mississippi, First Baptist Church in Lake Providence, Louisiana, First Baptist Church of Sicily Island, La., Boeuf River Baptist Church in Liddieville, La. and Oak Grove Baptist Church in Winnsboro. He also served as the Director of Missions for the Panola County Baptist Association (Batesville, Miss.) and the Deer Creek and Richland Baptist Associations (Winnsboro, La.). In this capacity, he served as guest speaker or interim pastor for all of the Baptist churches in the county or multi-parish area. His retirement in 2003 completed a preaching career that spanned over 60 years. He married Joanna Phillips in 1942, and she supported him all through his career until her death in February, 2000. He married Lora Womack Goodman in April of the following year. He entered the Veterans Home in August of 2008. He is survived by his second wife, Lora; sister, Aileen Harris; and three sons: Bruce, Randall and Terry. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Joanna; sister, Mary Francis Fitzgerald; brother, Raymond Kolb; and son, Larry. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 2:00PM at the Temple Baptist Church.
