Interment will follow at Alabama Presbyterian Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Melba was born on January 22, 1922 in Sibley, LA. After graduating from Choudrant High School, she left for Shreveport to attend nursing school at Highland Hospital. Not long after graduating from nursing school, she joined the United States Army. She left for war as an army nurse on the Queen Mary and returned on the USS Argentina when the war ended. She continued to work as a nurse in both Houston and New Orleans before settling in West Monroe, LA and taking on a job at Glenwood Hospital as an OB nurse and would later become assistant director of nurses for 30 plus years. She was loved and respected by many. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones after battling dementia. Melba was preceded in death by her husband Walter Dickey Krouskup; mother, Lucille Holstead Davis, father, John Almer Davis; brothers, Paul and Billy Davis; sister, Marjorie Davis Blake and husband Louis Blake; daughter, Marcia Christine Krouskup Moody; grandson, James Earnest Moody, Jr. (Jamie); brother-in-law, Aubrey Gaston. Melba is survived by her son, Richard Krouskup and wife Margaret of Dallas, TX; daughter, Karen Krouskup of West Monroe; sisters, Martha Gaston of Choudrant, LA, Mary Sue Davis; granddaughter, Amy Moody of West Monroe; grandsons, Derek and Christopher Krouskup and wife Donna of Dallas, TX; great- grandsons, Noah Wade and Kaleb Moody of Alexandria, LA, Cole and Justin Krouskup of Dallas, TX; great-granddaughters, Nicole and Chloe of Dallas, TX; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Hippie. We would like to give a special thanks to our family from United Home Health and the girls from LA Hospice and Palliative Care. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 12:00 PM until service time at the church.
