Ray Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery, Newellton, LA,under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday. Mr. Lancaster was born January 16, 1920 in Waterproof, LA, and passed away Tuesday October 14, 2008 at Madison Parish Hospital. Robert James graduated from LA. Tech where he lettered in Baseball. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a former co- owner of Tensas Motor & Supply Company as well as a farmer. He served 20 years on the St. Joseph Town Council. He also was a Dixie Youth Baseball Coach for many years. He was a Charter Board Member of Tensas Academy. He took pleasure in watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a charter member of the First Methodist Church of Saint Joseph where he served on the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Council. He was preceded in Death by;Father-Roderick Claude Lancaster,Mother Lillie Hudnall Lancaster,2 sisters,Anne Chennault and Martha Seaman. Survivors include: Wife of 61 years Edna "Tut" Lancaster of Saint Joseph, LA ,Son-Robert Jr. and Judy Lancaster of Abita Springs, LA,Son Mack and Martha Lancaster of Oak Grove, LA, Daughter Jennifer and Wyly Gilfoil of Lake Providence, LA, Brother Doc Lancaster of Saint Joseph, LA, Sister Mary Higginbotham of Ruston, LA, Sister-Betty Robertson of Ruston, LA, Sister-Mildred Weems of Panama City, FL Grandson, Robert James Lancaster, III, and wife Erica and children, Tucker, Tate and Reed of Atlanta, GA ,Granddaughter Molly Lancaster Balfour, and husband Kelly and son George of Baton Rouge, LA, Granddaughter Lillie Carolyn Lancaster of Sun Vally,ID, Granddaughter Tobie Lancaster Southall, and husband Justin and son, Fisher of Zachary, LA ,Grandson Captain John McIntosh Lancaster Jr., of Fort Campbell, KY ,Grandson Luke Madden Lancaster of New Orleans, LA, GrandsonJames Henry Gilfoil, and wife Mary Kathryn, and daughter Marley of Little Rock, AK, Grandson William Wyly Gilfoil, Jr., and wife Corey and sons Wyles and Bruin of Baton Rouge, LA, Granddaughter Edna Beth Gilfoil of Nashville, TN.,Grandson Robert Cain Gilfoil of Nashville, TN. The Pallbearers will be his Grandsons-Jim, Tosh and Luke Lancaster, Jim , Wyly and Cain Gilfoil.
