RODERICK CLAUDE "DOC" LANCASTER Young's Funeral Home Ferriday, LA Memorial services for Mr. Roderick Claude "Doc" Lancaster, 86 ,of Saint Joseph, LA will be held at First United Methodist Church of St. Joseph on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ray Owens officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at Wesley Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday. Doc Lancaster was born March 18, 1922 in Waterproof, LA and passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009, at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Monroe, LA. He was a resident of Saint Joseph, and a member of the First Methodist Church of St. Joseph. He served his country during WWII in the United States Coast Guard. Doc attended his beloved Louisiana Tech University and enjoyed going to the basketball and football games as often as possible. He was an avid hunter and sports fan even coaching a triple A baseball team. He was most fondly known by his family and friends for his witty personality, never meeting a stranger and acquiring as many a friends during his long life. Doc spent countless time delivering fresh fruit and vegetables to all his family and friends for it was the visit with them that he enjoyed the most. He was an adored father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. He was preceded in Death by: Father: Roderick Claude Lancaster, Sr.; mother: Lillie Maude Hudnall Lancaster; brother: Robert James Lancaster; sisters: Mildred McBride, Anne Chennault, Martha Seaman. Survivors include: Daughters: Claudette and husband John Fergus and children David Lee Marchman and Lillie Fergus of Murfreesboro, TN , Ashlea and husband Bryan Fowler and son William of Scottsdale, AZ, Lynn and husband Tom Frost; Sons Bradley and Nicholas Green of Fairport, NY and Gregory Green of Peachtree City, GA; sisters Mary Higginbotham and husband Marvin of Ruston LA, Betty Lou Robertson and husband Scotty of Ruston, LA,; Special sister in law: Edna "Tut" Lancaster of St. Joseph, LA; Special niece and nephews: Jennifer Gilfoil of Lake Providence, LA, Mack Lancaster of Oak Grove, LA and Rob Lancaster of Abita Springs, LA . The Honorary Pallbearers will be: David Lee Marchman, David Nations, Donald Barraza, Dr. Gerald Geisler, Dr. Lanny Johnson, Dr. Robert Gutherie Jarrell, Irby Gamble, Mack Lancaster, Rob Lancaster, Wyly Gilfoil, Miller Dent, Scott Watson and Horace "Brother" Curry.
