Henry Stone officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Visitation will be held Friday, January 18, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop. Mr. Bertney was born on October 5, 1929 in Lake Charles, LA and passed away on January 12, 2013 in Bossier City, LA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Lanell Landry; sons, Stephen W. Landry and Jack E. Landry; parents, Joseph E. Landry Sr. and Marie McGee Landry; brothers, Charlie Landry and Ira Landry; sister-in-law, Juanita Landry; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth K. Wroten and M.A. Wroten; sister-in-law, Jackie Robertson. Mr. Bertney lived in Bastrop, LA most of his life where he owned and operated the local Western Auto Store. He was married to Ruth Lanell Wroten of Bastrop and was blessed with four sons and one daughter. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop, LA. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by two sons, John M. Landry of Lafayette, LA, and Charles B. Landry and wife Ann of Shreveport, LA; his daughter, Annette L. Efird and husband Todd of Fayetteville, AR; daughter-in-law, Shannon Landry of West Monroe, LA; four brothers, Joseph E. Landry Jr. and wife Agnes of Lake Charles, LA, Edgar Landry and wife Kathy of Monroe, LA, Winston Landry and wife Pat of West Monroe, LA, Rev. Bobby Landry and wife Judy of Knoxville, TN; three sisters, Ena Simon and husband Jerry of Lake Charles, LA, Margaret Hernandez and husband Lloyd of Lafayette, LA, Theresa Cormier of Lake Charles, LA; sister-in-law, Erlene Landry of West Monroe, LA; brother-in-law, Flint Robertson of Bastrop, LA; sister-in-law, Patsy Taylor and husband Jack of Niceville, FL; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Briley and husband Jamie of Bastrop, La, David Landry and wife Melinda of Cherry Point, NC, Colleen Landry of West Monroe, LA, Michael Landry and wife Tiffanie of West Monroe, LA, Jacob Landry of San Francisco, CA, Tyler Landry and Mallory Landry , both of Shreveport, LA, Ashley Efird and Reed Efird, both of Fayetteville, AR; two great-grandchildren, Elise Smith and Malaki Briley; Host of nieces and nephews and their children.
