She was surrounded by family. Doris was born January 31, 1930 in DeKalb, Texas. She was the daughter of Reverend Mark Edward Bishop and Evie Laura Miller. Doris was an energetic woman with many talents who loved her family and poured much of her energy into all of their endeavors. Decorating, drapery design, and creating beautiful fashions were her passions. She spent most days at her beloved sewing machine and loved working in her yard finding peace as she labored in the soil. Doris played the piano beautifully, and in her young days was the pianist at the churches where her dad ministered. A walk down memory lane with great detail made her heart sing. She often told the story of Jesus and His love. Her laugh and a smile came quickly, along with a mischievous twinkle in her bright blue eyes. Her grandchildren called her Granna, and it was her delight to spoil each of them. Heaven is made a little sweeter by her presence. In 1948, Doris married the love of her life, W. C. "Dub" Langley. They made their first home in Huttig, Arkansas, and together raised three children. In 1963, her husband became a field superintendent for Dresser Engineering moving the family from coast to coast living in more than twenty-five states. She met and made many lifetime friendships, enriching her journey. Her later years were spent in Alabama living near her daughter. Doris is preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Langley; her sons, Dennis and Steve Langley; her parents, Mark and Laura Bishop; her sister, Eva Nell Reeves; her brother, Billy Bishop; and the son of her heart, Edward Thomas. Doris is survived by her daughter, Gayle Langley Snyder and husband, Dr. Robert Snyder of Helena, Alabama; and her daughter-in-law, Lyn Shaw of Shawnee, Kansas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Steven Snyder and wife Janet, whose children are William, Evelyn, and Benjamin; Dr. Hunter Snyder and wife Jennifer, whose children are Jillian and Logan; Molly Snyder Gregg and husband Matthew; Sean Langley and wife Carol; and Erin Langley; and their mother, Judy Bontrager Langley. Doris held much love for her step- grandchildren, Quinton Shaw, Leslie Shaw, and Tanner Shaw and wife Danielle; great-grandchildren, Tre and Jalyn Shaw; her brother, Mark Bishop of Wellsville, Kansas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
