He was a retired employee of the United States Rural Postal Carriers Association and the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was a graduate of St Matthews High School. Jesse "Bucky" is remembered as an amazing, loving, and devoted husband, daddy, pawpaw, and pappy. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed playing and teasing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He never met a stranger and will be truly missed by all of his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Jewel LaPietra; and a daughter, Belinda LaPietra Miller. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sgt. Upon returning to the states, he began his employment with the Postal Service until his retirement. "Coach", as he was called, and his wife, were the first basketball and football coaches for Our Lady of Fatima School. He was a member of the Louisiana High School Football and Basketball Associations referee program for 25 years. He was an auxiliary officer with the Monroe Police Department and Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office. He was a past member of Davis Island Hunting Club. During his service with the La National Guard, he served as Supply Sgt. with the 528th Engineer Battalion. He was a long standing member of the VFW. During his early years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved going "crabbing" with his family in south Louisiana. Later, after the decline of his health, his attention turned to his love of flowers. He loved to work in the yard and plant various flowers and vegetables. Honorary pallbearers will be the Northeast Louisiana Retired National Guard Association, Sam Tornatore, H.J. DeMers and Brentley Ross. The LaPietra Family would like to thank the doctors and staff at St. Francis Medical Center and St. Francis Specialty Hospital for their never ending devotion, care and concern. Their dedication was above and beyond what any patient and family could ask. When our husband/father entered the Specialty Hospital, his time there began as a "patient" and ended as a "family" bond with these special people. We would like to extend a special thanks to Bucky's very special friends, Larry Hall, Jerry Ford and James Scalia. Their time spent with their friend and our family was unconditional. They will never know how much their love and support means.
