Monday, May 16, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1200 Lamy Lane in Monroe, LA with Bro. Ray Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Mr. Lawson was born on March 22, 1935 in Winnsboro, LA and passed away on May 13, 2016 in West Monroe, LA. Mr. Lawson was dearly loved by his family and friends. He loved nothing better than spending time with them, sharing rocking chairs and stories on the front porch of his home, "Lawson's Hill." Claude was a member of Liberty Grove Church of God in West Monroe where he greatly enjoyed attending Sunday School and services. A member of the United States Marine Corps, Claude was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for many years as an air conditioning mechanic with his last employment at E. A. Conway Hospital. Claude was a member of Cadeville Lodge No. 229 of Eros, LA. He also enjoyed farming and sharing all his garden produce with family and friends. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by an infant son, parents, John Mack and Katie Maude Lawson, and by his sisters Louise Smith and Olivia Herrington. Mr. Lawson leaves behind his wife of 59 years Eston Usrey Lawson; daughter Karen McGrew and husband Scott; son Randy Lawson and wife Gwen; grandchildren, Lauren Lawson, Lauren Moore and husband Elliot, Chad Lawson, Hunter Lawson, and Leslie Ostransky and husband Samuel; one great grandson Carter Moore; nieces Tonya Permenter, Barbara Ann Beard and husband Glen, and Lorraine Sizemore and husband Frank. The family would like to acknowledge the constant friendship and support of neighbors Jim and Sherry Harlow. Without Jim, many of Mr. Lawson's pastimes would have been impossible. The family also thanks neighbors, Sonja and Edwin Acevedo for their wonderful support to Mr. Lawson. Finally, the family would like to acknowledge the assistance of Chance Brasiel during Mr. Lawson's recent illness. Pallbearers will be Jim Harlow, Chad Lawson, Hunter Lawson, Samuel Ostransky, Greg Rolen and David Wilkes.
