In 1919 her family moved to the Winnsboro area. She lived with her parents and siblings on a small farm in the Midway / Sardis Community west of Winnsboro. After graduating from Winnsboro High School in 1931, she worked as a saleslady in several dry good establishments in Winnsboro. Mrs. Edna, as she was known to many, married W. A. Hatton in 1938, and they established a home in Liddieville. She lived in the same home until her death. On August 1, 1940, she was employed as Deputy Registrar of Voters for Franklin Parish at the salary of $ 50.00 a month. She was later recommended and commissioned as Registrar of Voters in 1942 upon the death of the previous registrar, Melvin Stout. She remained in that position for 65 years and 8 months until her retirement in 2006. According to Mrs. Edna, "The work involved a great deal of responsibility and held many challenges. I always tried to conduct the office in an honorable and business like way letting no one influence me to do anything contrary to the rules and laws of the office." In her personal life, she was long time member of Beouf River Baptist Church; she was a member of the Extension Service Home Demonstration Club in earlier years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Owen and Laura Jean Sheppard Maynor. Her husband of over 50 years W. A. Hatton, preceded her in death in 1991. Her sisters, Ida Nell Keys, Auba Mae McCain and Laura Loraine Miller also preceded her. She is survived by her only child Evelyn H. Good and husband Glenn E. Good of Arkadelphia, AR and of Liddieville. She is also survived by a brother, Lester Maynor; nieces, Bettie Ann McCain Ross, Barbara Miller Rice, Irma Miller Morace, Glenda Maynor Littleton, Kathleen Maynor Erwin, Opal Keyes Smith; and a nephew, Robert Maynor. She was cared for by wonderful ladies: Nancy Johnson, Jolene Brown, Tana Orten, Jessie Townsend and Beth Stephens. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday June 27, 2010 at the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Perry officiating.
