Born on August 21, 1928, in Prentiss, MS, Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Jean was married for 45 years to her dear husband, Dr. William Jacobs Lembeck, who preceded her in death. Jean was an active and devoted member of McGuire Methodist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana, and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Eunice. She was a 1947 graduate of Baton Rouge High and attended Louisiana State University. In 2012, she retired from the Eunice Housing Authority after 40 years. Jean was passionate about her hobbies of reading, sewing, and baking. She always enjoyed cooking meals and baking cakes for her friends and family. Jean will be deeply missed and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved. She leaves behind a son, Charles Craig Cappo (Paula), a daughter, Nancy Lembeck Smith (Greg), nine grandchildren: Dr.Rachel Scott, Sam Cappo, Claudia Cappo, Tyler Smith, Hunter Smith, Emily Womack (Cameron), Daisy Windham, Gene Sittig, Ben Sittig (Hope) and nine great-grandchildren, her sisters, Martha Lemoine and Bobbie Stiglets, her brother Ralph Dyess (Dottie), her sister-in-law Carol Lembeck Forshee, and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William Jacobs Lembeck, her parents, Robert Gaston and Hattie Mae Berry Dyess, two sisters, Christine Everett, and Agnes Gilbert and four brothers, Vance Dyess, Lavelle Dyess, Troy Dyess, Harmon Dyess, her dear Aunt Lucy Berry Terrell and cousin, Jackie Terrell Lockwood. Our heartfelt gratitude is extended to her pastor, Rev. Shawn Hornsby, the staff of St. Francis Hospital, The Guest House Rehab Hospital, Serenity Care, Always Best Care, and Elara Hospice. A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Jean Labon Lembeck will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Eunice, Louisiana. There will be a visitation with family from 11:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the McGuire Methodist Church, West Monroe, Louisiana.
