Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Hwy 165, Monroe, on Saturday, July 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Mary Ann was born December 4, 1931, in Jackson, MS and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at St. Francis Medical Center. Mary Ann lived a life of service to her family, her church, her students, and her friends. She attended Belhaven College and graduated from Mississippi College in Elementary Education. For over 30 years she taught at Highland Elementary where she was chosen PTA Teacher of the Year. She held many offices as a member of ADK for 25 years. During that time, she represented her chapter at National ADK Convention and the National Reading Convention. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Monroe for 45 years where she was Assistant Director of the Special Education Department for over 30 years. She served in the Mary Martha Ministry and opened her home for youth fellowships, parties, and showers. People always counted on her pleasant smile. She will also be remembered for being the first to take food and for sending the sweetest cards. Mary Ann, the southern lady that she was, was always interested in the lives of others. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, L. U. and Lucille Amason; and brother-in-law, William Inkster. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Cecil C. Lipscomb, Jr.; son, Cecil C. Lipscomb, III and wife Marilyn of Monroe; daughter, Luci Whorton and husband Tom of Georgetown, TX; daughter, Nancy L. Davis of Monroe; grandchildren, Meredith Garner and husband Rob; Curtis Lipscomb and wife Lauren; Ruth and Elise Whorton; Michael Davis and wife Kristi; Steven Davis and wife Dorothy Ann; great-grandchildren, Robert and Caroline Garner; Cole and Caleb Davis; brother, Dr. Robert Amason and wife Luci; sister, Carolyn Inkster; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rob Garner, Curtis Lipscomb, Michael Davis, Steven Davis, Tom Whorton, Herschel Ryan, Kent Arrington, and Mike Swinney. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Monroe Women's Ministry or Mary Martha Ministry.
