Loftin, 77, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 17, 2009, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mrs. Loftin's residence following the service. Mrs. Loftin passed away Friday, February 13, 2009. She was a retired school teacher with Monroe City Schools. She was past president of Monroe City Classroom Teachers Association. Nona was a charter member of Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota. Mrs. Loftin was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Loftin; parents, Burton and Georgie Bankston; sister, Nedra Boeneke; brothers, Kermit and Curtis Bankston. Survivors include her son, Lawrence Laney Loftin of Monroe; daughter, Linda Kelly and husband Larry of Monroe; grandsons, Ian Loftin of Shreveport, LA and his mother, Judy Chandler of Shreveport, LA, Steve Prine and wife Amy of Monroe; and great granddaughter, Hannah Prine of Monroe. She also leaves a special friend and companion, Liz Henry and her son, Stephen; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Bill Boeneke, Steve Prine, Ian Loftin, Charlie Hardin, Jason Thackery, Tommy Minor, and Al Drummond. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Daniels, Johnny Woodard, Jimmy Jones, and David Marine. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Gary Jones and Staff, doctors, nurses, staff on 6th and 7th floor of St. Francis Hospital, and Dr. Leary.
