Judy Bazer officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Long passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, a field operator at Dow Chemical Company, and a Boy Scout leader for many years. Mr. Long loved the outdoors and frequently went hunting and camping. He was a man of deep faith in God, and lived a life that was filled with grace and kindness. With a selfless and giving heart, he always placed others before himself and was an earthly picture of our Heavenly Father's love. Mr. Long was preceded in death by his dad, Perry Long and wife Barbara; mother, Nan Andrews and husband Curt; brother, Mike Long; and niece, Tiffany Long. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Sheila Long; children, Jay Long of Dallas, TX, Connie Merritt and husband Will of Sterlington, and Will Long of Sterlington; grandchild, Hayes Merritt; brothers and sisters, Louise Johnson of Clinton, MS, Andy Long and wife LaJo of West Monroe, Ruthie Nolan and husband Curry of Rocky Branch, and Nancy Brantley of Shreveport, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Buddy Moore, John, Joe, and Mark Preaus, Bil Breed, and Art Rainwater. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church or the Boy Scouts of America.
