LONG Funeral services for Joseph A. Long, 59 of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Christian Life Church Monroe, LA. Joe was a faithful member of Christian Life Church. His pastor, Reverend Danny Chance will officiate his home going celebration. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Faithful husband and great Dad, Joseph Long passed away on July 20, 2015 in West Monroe. Joseph was born on July 28, 1955 to the union of Joe and Gussie Long. He was married to Deborah Castle Long for 40 years. Joe is survived by his wife, Deborah and sons, Anthony, wife April and Heath, wife Lauren, also survived by his mother, Gussie and brothers: Ricky, Terry and Mike; one sister Brenda. Joseph was preceded in death by Father: Joe, brother: Danny and sister: Becky. Joseph wasn't only a great dad- he was an even better granddad. He is survived by his greatest treasure, grandchildren: Japheth,Malachi,Schuyler, Paris, Savannah & Wyatt. Joseph proudly served in the United States Navy from 1974-1980 aboard the U.S.S. Mt. Whitney. Following his service in the Navy, Joe was a valued and trusted receiving supervisor for Malone and Hyde Warehouse. Joe kept a positive attitude, although he endured great physical struggles. He continually reminded me, "Never look back". Each day was another day to face and make a difference. He was a great example of a positive thinking, hard working, strong man. He faced every dilemma with positive determination. He continually voiced how proud he was of the mature, hard working men his boys grew up to become. Baby, you can walk and run now. We love and miss you. We don't say good-bye - we say, "see you soon". Special thanks to Glenwood I.C.U. nurses: David Welch and Jerry Ketchell. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Cupit, JJ Holyfield, Grady Kight, Jesse Masters, Randy McManus and Mike Nordan. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church.
