"JIMMY" LONG Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe, LA James S. "Jimmy" Long, age 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle, born November 10, 1921 in Ranger, TX, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be Sunday January 10th at Griffin Funeral Home, in West Monroe from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The service will be held at Griffin Funeral Home Monday January 11th at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Serenity Gardens Cemetery, West Monroe. Brother Larry Linson and Brother Rusty Grant will be officiating. Jimmy retired from Manville Forestry Research Division in 1986. He was a veteran of WWII, the 100th Infantry, 397th Batallion. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank W. Long and Elma Lotz Long; brother, Perry A. Long; and granddaughter, Lisa Long Grigson. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Margaret Brasher Long; sons, Bill Long and wife Janis, of El Dorado, AR, and Larry Long and wife, Annette, of West Monroe, LA; grandsons, Jim Long and fiancé, Sandra Lutz of Saginaw, MI, Robert Long and fiancé, Lisa Malloy of Hendersonville, TN, and Doug Long and wife Laura of Cullman, AL; granddaughter, Janna Allen of Mansfield, TX; six great grandsons; one great granddaughter; one great-great grandson and one great-great granddaughter (due in January 2010). He is also survived by three nieces, two nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jim Long, Robert Long, Doug Long, and grandsons-in-law, John Allen, Sam Aiken and Jerry Grigson. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Kiersey, Dr. William Smith, Fred Fontenot, and Willie Davis.
