Michael "Mike" James Lytle, 68, of Bonita, Louisiana was born March 19, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois and died April 20, 2017 in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Elaine Sheer Lytle and William Ro Robert Lytle of Hinsdale, Illinois; and a sister, Linda Scott Nelson of Denver, Co Colorado. He is survived by his brother Thomas Robert Lytle and wife Jeanette Ann Greco of Longmont, Colorado. He is also survived by Deborah Shackelford Mock, and cousins, Kelsey Scott and Marilyn McKoin of Bonita, Catherine Ann McKoin Herrington of Bonita, and Scott and Sandi McKoin of Cookeville, Tennessee. Mike had a deep affection for the rural northeast corner of Louisiana countryside, where his mother had grown up. He enjoyed visiting his grandparents, the late Charles Vincent Shear and Leslie Scott Shear of Bonita, Louisiana, throughout his youth. After attending the University of Illinois and earning a degree as a Certified Public Accountant, Mike audited for Hart, Schaffner Schaffner, and Marx, after which he moved to Bonita where he opened and owned a CP CPA and Notary Public Service. He also served as Mayor of the Village of Bonita for two terms and this began his sincere interest in keeping the village in "good shape." Under his administration, he sponsored the Alligator Festival and Trade Days. He was often found at Bonita Elementary School helping with activities there also. The Bonita Museum was organized under Mike's mayorship, providing a visual and la lasting piece of history of the village and surrounding communities. Respected for his knowledge and love of Bonita, townspeople came to him for advice. He was known as the town's "go-to" authority for everything. Mike's love f love for his community and civic duties extended into Morehouse Parish, where he ser he served as a member of the Morehouse Economic Development board and was a board board member for Morehouse Parish Farm Bureau Insurance Company. Mike will be missed. He was a great man, kind, caring, smart. Alexis Carrel migh might have been speaking about Mike when he said, "Great men are gifted with intu intuition. They know without reasoning or analysis, what they need to know." A memorial service will be announced at a later date by the family through Cox Fu Funeral Home of Bastrop.
