Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Ridge Avenue Baptist Church in West Monroe, with Dr. Jim Wolfe officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Mr. Magee passed away November 9, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Franklinton, LA on November 10, 1933 and grew up in the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, LA. Joe was a tax accountant for over 40 years and made many life-long friendships during his career. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and especially loved listening to dogs run. He was a lover of life, people and never met a stranger. Joe passed along so many life lessons he learned in the orphanage to generations after him. He was a father image to many. Joe is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie Magee; brother, Tommy Magee; sister, Patricia Magee and grandson, Jason Grimail. Survivors include his sons, Joey Magee and special friend, Sarah Staats and Marty Magee and wife, Christi; step children, Rosemary Kocher and husband, Steve, Ellise "Sissy" Elmore and husband, John and Bill Jett; brother, OMSG (Ret.) Wayne Magee, Sr. and wife, Miyo and their sons, Colonel, Wayne Magee Jr. and wife, Lela and Major (Ret.) Andy Magee and wife, Anna; and special daughter-in-law, Lynn Magee; grandchildren, Lane Magee, Luke Magee, Savannah Magee, Knox Magee, Dusty Crenshaw, Tanya Bickman; seven great grandchildren, and his loving dog Dinky. Pallbearers will be Barry Frazier, Randy Frazier, Jerome Eaves, Mike Hodge, Roger Johnson, Mike Auttonberry, Colonel Wayne Magee, Jr. and Shorty Shaw. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Johnston and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
