NEWS STAR WORLD - MARCH 19, 2024
EDGAR A. MAJOR

Edgar A. Major, 86, peacefully passed away on March 11 in Little Rock, AR. He 
was born on May 10, 1937 in Little Rock to the late Anderson (Bake) Major and 
the late Elizabeth (Elder) Major. His family relocated to Denver, CO where he 
met and married his wife of 64 years, Marlene. He soon became a newspaper 
executive for the Denver Post. He worked for the “Post” for 20 Years, then 
relocated back to Arkansas to work for the Arkansas Gazette Newspaper in 1984. 
He retired from the Gannett Corporation in 2003.

He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, family and traveling with his wife. Ed is 
survived by his wife Marlene (DeAngelo) Major, two daughters Janene Martin 
(Richard), Jody Fechter (Bob) and a host of grand children and great 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock 
on Friday, March 22 at 1:30 p.m. A full tribute can be viewed on Natural State 
Funeral Home website.
